Update

Dear CWA Families,

I wanted to provide you with an important update regarding Clackamas Web Academy's transition to our future home at the former Bob's Red Mill property in Milwaukie.

​

As many of you know, the Milwaukie Planning Commission unanimously approved our land use application several weeks ago. We have since learned that Dave's Killer Bread (DKB) attempted to appeal that decision. However, the appeal was submitted after the City's 5:00 p.m. filing deadline (approximately 34 seconds late) and, as a result, the City denied the appeal.

While we are encouraged by this outcome, we also recognize that this has been a lengthy process with several unexpected turns. We remain cautiously optimistic and will continue to keep families informed should there be any additional developments.

With that said, we are moving forward with our plans for the 2026–27 school year, including our onsite learning schedule.

​

Last spring, more than 85% of the families who responded to our scheduling survey indicated they would support the following concept:

​

"Would you support a schedule that concentrates most on-site classes on Tuesdays, Wednesdays, and Thursdays, even if your student may need to attend multiple afternoon classes on those days?"

This idea was developed in response to family feedback requesting a schedule that maximizes flexibility for home learning during an extended weekend while allowing CWA to make the most efficient use of our future facility as enrollment continues to grow.

Accordingly, we are asking families to plan for the following onsite schedule:

• Tuesday

  • Morning: High School and Elementary

  • Afternoon: Middle School

• Wednesday

  • Morning: Elementary and Middle School

  • Afternoon: High School

• Thursday

  • Morning: High School and Elementary

  • Afternoon: Middle School

As in previous years, onsite classes will begin in late September. This has long been part of CWA's educational model and provides students and families time to become comfortable with our online learning systems, establish routines, and build strong connections with their teachers and academic coaches before beginning onsite instruction.
