Students in Astronomy are learning about the immense size, complexity and beauty of the ever-evolving universe. Topics in Forensic Science, the application of science for solving crimes, include toxicology, DNA fingerprinting, ballistics, blood type, and trace evidence. Students in Doorways to Expression are examining self-expression through drawing, painting, photography, and sculpture, students in Ancient Empires are taking a journey back in time to examine the culture, art, and architecture of different ancient empires, our Yearbook students are busy interviewing students and staff, and our Leadership students are planning fun school activities for all grade levels to participate in. Over 30% of current CWA high school students are enrolled in one or more college classes this fall at Clackamas, Portland and Mt. Hood Community Colleges along with Oregon Tech, a four year university. From Accounting, Art and Automotive to Writing and Welding, our high school students are learning skills and achieving great things at the college level as part of their CWA high school experience. Registration for Winter term at the colleges opens in November. Students who would like to take a college class should begin the application and registration process now. Întâlnirile comunității gimnaziale Elevii noștri din școala gimnazială continuă să se bucure de construirea comunității în cadrul întâlnirilor comunitare la nivel de clasă în fiecare săptămână, în timp ce joacă jocuri de colaborare, primesc sprijin academic sau lucrează la proiecte de artă și meșteșuguri. A învăța să colaborezi ca o echipă în persoană și/sau de la distanță este un aspect critic al educației studenților de astăzi pentru viitor. Studenților li s-a prezentat proiectul „Skoolie Life”, care diseminează un proiect complex în 9 sarcini împărțite în mod egal. Elevii au selectat sarcini pe baza intereselor consensuale. Fiecare echipă a colaborat timp de peste două săptămâni la acest proiect secundar, în timp ce și-a continuat cu misiunile normale de știință. We want to ensure that all of our students feel welcome, safe, accepted, and cared for here at CWA. PSAT CWA was exc ited to offer the PSAT onsite for the very first time this fall. We are now registered with the College Board as an official testing site and will be offering the test for years to come! Art Grant Award A huge shout out to our HS Language Arts teacher, Debbie Steere, for being awarded the NCEF art grant. The funds provided to our school from this grant allowed us to buy professional art supplies, have given our students art opportunities in many of their classes, and have given students access to art workshops and other fun art based activities. Take care! 2025 Grad Group DSC_7632 DSC_8100 2025 Grad Group 1/47 Goodbye Nadia Nadia Frank, our longtime friend and trilingual counselor who has been at CWA since 2008, will be enjoying retirement in her new home in Florida next year. She plans to spend her extra time with her family, including 2 grandchildren, doing the things she loves with the people she loves. Our 8th Grade students are thoughtful, considerate, respectful, and kind and worked hard to earn 60 High School credits as a group! We are very proud of all of their accomplishments and especially the fun, goofy, kind, caring students they are. They worked hard this year presenting at two Celebrations of Learning, participating in BizTown, making fantastic academic gains in Language Arts and Math, and creating wonderful works of art throughout the year. While there, they enjoyed beautiful weather, engaged in science activities in the wondrous ecosystems unique to our awesome state, wrote and performed skits, learned and sang new songs, and most of all gained confidence and independence and a strong sense of community with their peers. 3rd Annual CWA Fun Run - 1AC4AA22-C547-4DA2-9B14-3536F39BF886_1_105_c 09B1D50D-EA6E-4970-B271-B8A2DB96B478_1_105_c IMG_4345 1AC4AA22-C547-4DA2-9B14-3536F39BF886_1_105_c 1/71 Our Elementary, Middle and High School students participated in our 3rd Annual Fun Run raising over $1800 for our school , thank you SO much to those of you that participated and to our Leadership Team for setting this event up! An extra special shout out to those students that brought in the most money: Krista Jordaine and Giada Ferensak in Middle School and Oliver Betteridge and Greyson Sharp in Elementary School. Thank you so much for your extraordinary support of our school! The money raised in this event helps pay for field trips, science supplies, community building activities, Kona Ice and more. We hope to see everyone again at our annual Fun Run next year, so start training now 😊 Game Night A huge thank you to our Leadership class for hosting an awesome Game Night in April! Students played games, sang karaoke, took selfies in the photo booth, ate delicious snacks, participated in video game competitions, won awesome raffle prizes, and had so much fun together! Our Elementary students hosted an amazing science fair, where the scientific method was on full display. Our Middle School students showcased work from Language Arts, Math, Social Studies and Science using display boards or slideshows. At the high school levels, ninth graders showed off their learning through unique projects in science and math, English and World History, respectively. In 10th grade, students followed a theme of survival as they presented for Biology, US History, English, and Math. Our Juniors and Seniors presented their experiences gained in the community service-based Youth Take Action class and Senior Internship. Well done to all of you that participated, your hard work and presentation skills were amazing! CWA was transformed into an elegant ballroom for the evening and our students were dressed to the nines. Thank you Ms. Seibel and the Leadership Team for hosting this fantastic event, fun was had by all who attended! Formal 2 Formal, Raffle 25 Formal, Staff Formal 2 1/8 K-1 Farm North Clackamas’ Land Lab invited our K-1 students for a fun farm animal field trip this spring. Students were able to see pigs, goats, chickens, cows, and more. Watching the High School FFA students lead our students in groups and share their knowledge was very special, thank you to all who came to the farm! Vă rugăm să luați legătura cu profesorul dvs. YTA dacă sunteți în căutarea mai multor oportunități de voluntariat. 8th Grade Bowling CWA’s 8th grade students got to enjoy a special field trip to Milwaukie Bowl and Pietro’s Pizza to end their year. Students had fun bowling, walking to Pietros, playing games, eating pizza and spending time together before summer break. A HUGE thank you to our awesome parent volunteers for helping make this a special event with decorations, cake, tokens, pizza, and more, you guys are awesome! IMG_4646 IMG_4645 IMG_4672 IMG_4646 1/17 Butterfly life cycle Elementary students studied the life cycle of the butterfly this spring in preparation for their Science Fair. It was fun to watch them grow from caterpillars, to becoming a chrysalis to eventually emerging as butterflies. Students were engaged every step of the way until we eventually released them all in early June. Students were provided a delicious Pietro’s pizza lunch in a festive atmosphere where they were able to enjoy each other’s company and celebrate their High School journey together. Our seniors were very supportive of each other as they received honor cords for department awards, Oregon State Assessments, college credit, Youth Take Actions, longevity at CWA, biliteracy, and more.
