We will be offering the Oregon State Assessment in grades 3 - 8 and 11 in English Language Arts in April and Mathematics in May. They searched for 100 hershey’s kisses around the classroom and put them in order. They learned the names of all 50 states as well as their capitals, they became experts on the state of their choice by compiling an A-Z research project, they wrote a handwritten letter to the Governor of their state requesting their autograph on a state puzzle piece, made a creative state float about their state, and composed a persuasive speech convincing classmates to visit their state. In the culminating event, our third grade students did an outstanding job sharing their knowledge and answering questions during the Parade of States. Well done!! Students socialize as well as help each other understand online content. They come to realize it's more fun to learn together! At the same time, students have the opportunity to participate in a game of Chess. Chess is more than just moving pieces; it's about personal growth, skill development, and the joy of the game. Students at CWA are so fantastic at involving everyone! CWA Baking Club Students in grades 6 - 8 and their families have had so much baking together online with Ms. Kristin’s Baking Club. They have baked snickerdoodles and multi-colored friendship cookies so far. There will be more opportunities this year to join in the fun, so please look for the upcoming date and join us if you can! Students in Astronomy are learning about the immense size, complexity and beauty of the ever-evolving universe. Topics in Forensic Science, the application of science for solving crimes, include toxicology, DNA fingerprinting, ballistics, blood type, and trace evidence. And, we don’t mean after high school. Over 30% of current CWA high school students are enrolled in one or more college classes this fall at Clackamas, Portland and Mt. Hood Community Colleges along with Oregon Tech, a four year university. From Accounting, Art and Automotive to Writing and Welding, our high school students are learning skills and achieving great things at the college level as part of their CWA high school experience. Registration for Winter term at the colleges opens in November. Students who would like to take a college class should begin the application and registration process now. Pumpkin Patch Our Elementary and Middle School students had a chance to connect and enjoy time together at Liepold Farms on a stunningly beautiful sunny day in October.
